Constitution of the Chamber of Deputies

The newly elected Chamber of Deputies shall gather on the date and at the time set up in the convening document issued by the President of Romania, in compliance with the provisions of the Constitution.

Until the election of the Standing Bureau, the proceedings of the Chamber of Deputies shall be chaired by the oldest deputy, as a senior president, assisted by 4 secretaries designated from amongst the youngest deputies.

In order to validate the mandates, the Chamber of Deputies shall elect, in its first meeting, a committee comprised of 30 deputies, reflecting the political configuration of the Chamber, the way it results from the constitution of the parliamentary groups.

The proposals for the number of deputies to represent each parliamentary group shall be made by the leaders of such groups and transmitted to the secretaries. The senior president shall submit these proposals to the Chamber in the order of the parliamentary groups' sizes, and the Chamber of Deputies shall decide on them, based on the vote of the majority of the deputies present.

The Chamber of Deputies shall convene in a meeting, by way of law, on the 5th day from the constitution of the Validation Committee, in order to debate the latter's report.

The report of the Validation Committee shall be presented to the Chamber of Deputies by its president.

The validation or invalidation of the deputy mandates shall be done based on the vote of the majority of the deputies present.

The Chamber of Deputies shall be lawfully constituted after the validation of two thirds of the deputy mandates.
